The Textile Corridor offers opportunities for private capital investment, public sector support, and a wide array of living, working, and recreational options.

The area is comprised of approximately 250 acres within the urban core which includes, among other things, the Bleachery complex, Springs Industries, the Cotton Factory, private residences, small businesses, and portions of the Winthrop University Campus.

Since the adoption of the Textile Corridor Master Plan (pdf 11,156 KB) in December of 2003, redevelopment of the former textile manufacturing area (lying between downtown and the Winthrop University campus) is well into its initial implementation phase. The Textile Corridor has been divided into five development zones designed to organize and prioritize the construction within this area. The Plan’s vision of a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use, urban village is beginning to transpire with the completion of the historic Rock Hill Cotton Factory in the summer of 2007

Family Trust Credit Union has committed to its intention to construct a new building at its current location in the Textile Corridor, at the corner of White Street and Laurel Street. The specific size and functions for the new building are currently being studied as part of a corporate “needs analysis.” The non-profit organization was founded to serve the financial needs of employees of the Rock Hill Printing and Finishing plant (locally known as the “Bleachery”). With this move, Family Trust returns again to its community roots and positions itself to help drive the revitalization effort.
